English Premier League club member, Arsenal, and Emirates Airlines recently signed an agreement that would extend the airline’s sports sponsorship of the club’s shirts and stadium.
The $239 million sports sponsorship deal gives Emirates five more years on the front of Arsenal’s jersey while the contract will keep Emirates’ name on the Gunners’ stadium through 2028.
Emirates agreed to pay a significant portion up front, which would provide Arsenal’s front office with the appropriate funds to add additional players; the team hasn’t won a trophy since Emirates began its sponsorship of the team almost a decade ago.
“The deal is all about football,” Gunners’ Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Gazidis, said in a press conference last Friday. “It is all about giving us the resources, in what we believe is a responsible and well-managed way, to be able to invest in what we put onto the pitch for our fans.”
