Nike in Hot Water over Tiger Ad
Nike, one of Tiger’s main sponsors and a company that is tightly linked to the golfer and his image recently created a sports social media stir with a new ad featuring Woods.
The ad shows a picture of Woods with the quote “Winning Takes Care of Everything,” attached to it.
The ad – which has been posted on Facebook and Twitter – is supposed to allude to the fact that the golfer has recovered from career stumbles to regain his number one spot, but some say it’s inappropriate because of Woods’ past marital woes.
The phrase is one that Woods uses often with reporters when asked about his or other golfers’ rankings.
The ad has received mixed reactions on Facebook, some congratulating Woods on his new ranking and others commenting that the ad sends the wrong message out in light of Woods’ past problems.
