Speaking in regards to the Final Draw of the FIFA World Cup, set to take place on December 6, FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke wrote:
“On this day, Planet Football will have its eyes trained on Bahia’s Costa do Sauipe. The group draw is in itself an event, with television audiences in the hundreds of millions around the entire world, the same number we see for a FIFA World Cup match.”
With a lot of commotion surrounding the Final Draw for the World Cup, FIFA has taken it upon themselves to further the excitement with the release of their official app. The freshly pressed app is FIFA’s first and is available for iOS and Android devices.
FIFA app launches with some great features
First things first, the app looks great. Everything is very easy to navigate and it puts the info you want right at your fingertips. Of course there is a news section where you can find all the latest football updates. But from there, the app is fresh and unique.
The World Match Centre is the place to go to keep track of scores from around the world. Over 200 national leagues and competitions from around the world can be tracked live, for those die-hard soccer (football) fans.
A section for the 2014 World Cup gives you everything you could want from a FIFA app. Things like Brazil’s background information, teams and news can be found here. The app also makes it easy to add upcoming matches to your calendar, so you never miss a beat.
Two other sections include the FIFA World Rankings as well as FIFA Explore. The Explore section allows users to look into different programs that FIFA is involved with, such as Football For Hope, which aims to utilize football as a way to make a positive change within society.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter commented:
“Our mission is not only to develop the game, but to touch the world and build a better future. With the official FIFA app, we are using mobile technology – the most personal technology ever known – to unite and inspire fans, ensuring they never miss a moment of the beautiful game.”
FIFA has only bettered themselves with the release of their official app. Stay tuned.
